Wahl Clipper, the worldwide leading manufacturer of Clipper and Trimmers for global consumer and professional markets, is searching for Electronics Engineers to expand their New Product Development Group in Sterling IL.
A large percentage of the Electronics Engineer’s time will be spent collaborating with cross functional team members in the development and implementation of electronic features for new products. The remainder of their time will be spent supporting and improving existing products, assisting the engineering test lab, and solving technical challenges.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the technical design function on product development teams
• Develop appropriate project costs, requirements, and schedule. Focus activities to meet these goals
• Design and direct engineering experiments
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• Experience with developing, designing, testing, and debugging electronic circuits
• Experience with operating electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, battery analyzers, and data-loggers
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in a cross-functional team environment
• Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment
• Creative problem solving ability
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with PCB design software
• Proficiency with programming microcontrollers in assembly or C++
• Experience designing and building graphical user interfaces (GUI) with Labview
• Knowledge of controlling and communicating electronic test equipment with PC and PLC interfaces such as RS232, GPIB, and USB

Wahl is currently searching for a Design Engineer that will serve as a primary design interface between Wahl’s Global Product Managers and our factory and suppliers located in China. This position will be located in our global headquarters in Sterling, IL. The candidate must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese (verbal and written) and must be able to travel to China frequently.
Primary responsibilities
• Design and develop new hair cutting and personal care products to be introduced in our factory or suppliers in China.
• Primary interface between Global Product Managers and our Chinese design resources - translating product functionality, performance, and cost requirements into a new product design.
• Manage new product introductions - achieve customer defined volume and delivery targets
Qualifications
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (verbal and written)
• 5+ years of product design experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience managing new product introduction from initial concept to mass production
• Experience in designing injection molded plastic products/parts, stamped and machined metal parts
• Technically proficient with mechanical principles and basic knowledge of electrical principles
• Good project management skills
• Extensive 3D CAD modeling experience in complex surfaces
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment
• Must have good written and oral communication skills
• Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of UL and IEC safety standards is a plus
• Industrial design capability is a plus

Qualifications

• 5+ years of “hands on” experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
• Knowledge and experience with grinding, stamping, or injection molding
• Experienced in jig and fixture design
• Experience designing and developing tooling, equipment, or manufacturing processes
• Technically proficient with mechanical principles and basic knowledge of electrical principles
• Working knowledge of quality control and assurance systems
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
• CAD experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices is a plus.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills.

The Project Engineer develops new products from concept to production.

Requirements:

•Five years experience developing high volume electro-mechanical products from concept through production
•Experience designing injection molded parts
•Proficiency in 3D solid modeling (Unigraphics preferred)
•Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in a cross-functional team environment

Wahl Clipper, a high volume manufacturer of personal care appliances, is looking for an engineer to support blade manufacturing.
A variety of tasks, projects and maintenance functions will be assigned to this position. These will include: designing new blades, process improvements, bade testing, blade tooling and fixtures, downtime reductions, and blade cost reductions. This position will work to meet multiple deadlines for several projects, many all at the same time.
In addition to learning existing methods and practices of blade processing, this position requires a never ending passion for learning by seeking out industry best practices. The use of NX CAD is required for 3D molding, blueprint creation, processing tooling, and fit, form and function of molds. The candidate must possess a passion for never-ending improvement.

Wahl Clipper Corporation is looking for a Product Support Engineer to work with new and existing products.
Responsibilities include:
• Testing to analyze part and product design for product deficiencies
• Assists in generating required data for performance and quality specifications.
• Builds prototype samples and coordinates pre-pilot and pilot evaluations on new and modified products.
• Reviews modifications of products with Manufacturing and provide technical assistance to manufacturing.

The Product Draftsman works to create dimensioned drawings from 3D models and implement changes to existing 3D models and drawings. This person will work as part of a cross-functional development team to create high quality successful products.
