Industrial Engineer

Location - Sterling, Illinois

The performance of the Value Stream Industrial Engineer is measured by the ability of the department to make continual improvements in the areas of quality, safety, productivity, delivery and cost. This position is a major participant in Lean Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s) in the value stream and across other value streams, when appropriate.

 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts capacity analyses to identify value stream constraints
  • Identifies and participates in Lean Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s)
  • Train employees in Lean Manufacturing tools and concepts
  • Develops and updates visual management tools for continuous improvement projects
  • Designs plant layouts and manufacturing cells for material flow optimization
  • Develops time standards and cost estimates for new and existing products
  • Processes Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) and Product Change Notices (PCN’s) for products
  • Maintains and updates Routings and Bills of Material for all products
  • Participates on the New Product Launch Team when assigned by the Value Stream Manager
  • Develops and maintains work instructions and certified samples using digital photography for all value stream cells and processes
  • Works with all employees of the value stream to identify cost reductions in all processes
  • Investigates downtime issues and conducts improvement with Product/Process Engineers
  • Develops and analyzes capital equipment cost justifications with Product/Process Engineers
  • Ensures a safe work environment, performs safety and ergonomic audits, accident investigations, develops safety policies and procedures and corrective action plans, and conducts safety training. (Safety Committee membership as requested.)
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local safety, health and environmental regulations where applicable
  • Conducts additional projects and performs other duties as assigned by the Value Stream Manager

Project Engineer

Tool Engineer

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Industrial Designer – Consumer Division

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded consumer products, has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and team-oriented individual to fill the role of Industrial Designer in the US Consumer Sales and Marketing Division at Wahl Clipper Co., in Sterling, IL.   This position is responsible for the design direction of consumer product.    This role will understand articulated and unarticulated needs of the consumer, use consumer insights, and the latest trends in design and ergonomics to develop world class personal care appliances.  

Job Description:

This position must meet multiple deadlines and goals in regard to analyzing research and designing products for presentations to customers, new product development and research projects.   The Industrial Designer must possess design skills, free hand, computer aided design, and sample making.  They must have complete understanding of the new product development process and basic engineering skills in order to work with engineering to insure manufacturability of the designs created.  This position requires great attention to detail and up-to-date knowledge of computer aided design, model making and design technique to enhance the performance of the duties.

This position requires the ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer and team-oriented work environment.

Manufacturing Engineer

Wahl is currently searching for a Manufacturing Engineer that will interface and support our factory and suppliers located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  This position will be located in our global headquarters in Sterling, IL.  The candidate must be fluent in Vietnamese (verbal and written) and must be able to travel to Vietnam frequently.

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide manufacturing and operational support to our Vietnam operations and suppliers
  • Identify, direct, and support projects that will achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets
  • Design, develop, and qualify tools, equipment, and manufacturing processes

Accounting Clerk

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation in Sterling, Il, is in need of an Accounting Clerk.
Our Accounting Clerk will perform various accounts payable tasks such as invoice entry and employee expense report review and processing.  Also assist with various financial and general accounting activities and new system development and business process improvement opportunities. 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform accounts payable activities such as review and process vendor invoices for payment, including perform three-way match of invoice to receipt and purchase order and general ledger account number assignment, as required. Also review and process employee expense reports and assist with processing disbursements and paying via ACH.
  • Resolve issues on past due invoices, approvals and deductions from invoices paid, while developing and maintaining strong vendor relations.
  • Perform other accounts payable tasks as assigned.

E-Marketing Manager Coordinator

Environmental Health & Safety Administrator

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation is looking for an ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ADMINISTRATOR to join our team. The EHS Administrator will  provide administrative support to the Human Resources team specifically in the Environmental Health & Safety areas in Sterling, IL.   Essential functions of the role are:

 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Compose correspondence, distributes information to Sterling facility and responds professionally to miscellaneous inquiries requiring knowledge of EHS policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains databases, spreadsheets and various word processing records to assist with EHS activities. This includes safety training databases, Total Traxx and MSDS Online systems, including updating backup USB drives.
  • Support HR team and Operations with knowledge of Velocity EHS incident tracking system. Participate in safety audits and investigations (5Y process).
  • Responsible for all MSDS documents in facility, updating system and communicating to appropriate parties.
  • Participate on the Wahl Safety Teams leading safety initiatives and coordinating communications. Attend EHS Safety meetings, as required.
  • Lead the Wahl Green Team meetings and coordinate Green Team Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) with an acceptable amount of frequency.
  • Assist with required environmental and safety inspections.
  • Coordinate pick-up and tracking shipments for hazardous, non-hazardous and universal wastes between multiple vendors. This includes tracking waste profiles to ensure they are not expired or inactive. Initiate with the vendors when a new waste profile is needed.
  • Assist the EHS Manager with maintaining the ISO14001 EMS system documentation for accuracy. This may include awareness training as well as coordinating with the department managers process audits for environmental aspects and impacts when there are changes.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Associate’s degree related to Human Resources, Safety or Operations required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 1year experience in Human Resources role(s) with general knowledge of safety and/or environmental is required.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 EMS systems as well as regulations and standards of agencies such as OSHA and EPA a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be flexible to handle interruptions.
  • Above average computer skills are required (Microsoft Office programs).
  • Must be able to effectively interact with persons of all organizational levels.
